The Story Behind

Get to know the essence of innovative design. The RM58 uses modern composites, which are contemporary equivalents of the polyester-glass laminates originally used by Roman Modzelewski in 1958.

Like its historic version, the RM58 Armchair's seat was made using modern technologies used in yacht construction. Three versions of the seat's finish are available: Classic, Matte and upholstered Soft. The RM58 is an excellent example of Space Age design, which crosses the boundaries between new technological approaches and modern, organic aesthetics.

IN DETAIL

Fabric: TEDDY

The fabrics from one of the most fashionable TEDDY collection are characterized by delicate structure that resembles soft plush. What distinguishes them is knotted weave, high grammage and resistance to abrasion. Teddy looks prominent against the background of walls made of natural wood, raw brick, concrete or stone. Exceptionally soft texture and toned-down color range are an exquisite complement for every interior, adding a bit of warmth, coziness and lightness.

IN DETAIL

Organic Form

The RM58 armchair is distinguished by its fully enclosed, organic seat form, which at the time of its creation had no counterpart either in Poland or elsewhere in the world. Its innovative shape was ahead of its time, combining elegant minimalism with futuristic touches inspired by space-age aesthetics.

With its flowing lines and original form, the armchair impresses with its modern design, while being an incredibly functional and comfortable piece of furniture.

Roman Modzelewski: Innovator

Roman Modzelewski was a painter, designer, sculptor, and teacher. An avant-garde creator, an interdisciplinary artist. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and shared his career with the Łódź Academy of Fine Arts since its foundation in 1945.

Completed in 1958, the RM58 Armchair made of fiberglass was a pioneering application of this material in Poland. From the formal side, it is a unique example on a world-wide scale of the fully-formed, homogeneous organic crust of the seat.
