The Story Behind

Get to know the essence of innovative design. The RM58 uses modern composites, which are contemporary equivalents of the polyester-glass laminates originally used by Roman Modzelewski in 1958.

Like its historic version, the RM58 Armchair's seat was made using modern technologies used in yacht construction. Three versions of the seat's finish are available: Classic, Matte and upholstered Soft. The RM58 is an excellent example of Space Age design, which crosses the boundaries between new technological approaches and modern, organic aesthetics.

Roman Modzelewski: Innovator

Roman Modzelewski was a painter, designer, sculptor, and teacher. An avant-garde creator, an interdisciplinary artist. He graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and shared his career with the Łódź Academy of Fine Arts since its foundation in 1945.

Completed in 1958, the RM58 Armchair made of fiberglass was a pioneering application of this material in Poland. From the formal side, it is a unique example on a world-wide scale of the fully-formed, homogeneous organic crust of the seat.
