The Story Behind

The 366 Armchair, an icon of Polish design, was designed in 1962 by Józef Chierowski. Its production was resumed in 2014 by 366 Concept under an exclusive licence. Thanks to new technology, we have hidden the screws connecting the seat, in line with the designer's vision from 50 years ago.

In its new form, it has been featured in global exhibitions, including at The Design Museum in London in 2016 for the exhibition “The Pan-European Living Room”, designed by acclaimed architectural firm OMA, and has won awards such as Must Have at the Łódź Design Festival.

Józef Chierowski: The Creator

Józef Chierowski, without the exaggeration, is considered the father of our brand. Our name, 366 Concept, comes from his iconic creation: the 366 Armchair. The practical, lightweight and compact furniture furnished millions of Polish homes and countless cafes and offices, becoming the most recognizable Polish design of the mid-20th century.

Chierowski, a renowned interior architect and designer, worked for the Lower Silesian Furniture Factory and taught at the National Academy of Arts in Wrocław. Among his many designs, including the notable VAR Chair, his greatest achievement remains the 366 Armchair, a true icon of Polish Mid-Century Design and a beloved piece of the 1950s and 60s.
